Same studio, same apartment, next year

Wow! I made it back even though I honestly thought last year (2023) would be the finale. Long distance travel becomes even more grueling each year—and not just because I am getting old (or older). So here I am recovering from a 30 hour day in two major airports, a smaller one and a ferry boat ride, followed by a 15 minute walk in the rain schlepping luggage. Actually , Marco did the shlepping. I just followed behind glad to unencumbered. Best part of the walk through the Ghetto to the apartment—the kosher bakery has chocolate hamantaschen NOW even though Purim is weeks away. Can’t wait for her to open tomorrow—gluten sensitivity be damned. Oh well, one or two cookies can’t hurt!

I have to admit that Venezia has been on my mind the entire year. “Fantasia Veneziana” is currently on display at the Kalamazoo Illustrated Accordion Book exhibition. Imagery here is so rich and compelling—geography as well as historically cultural. Hard not to sink into cliche.

  1. Glad you made it. I have been immersed in Boston early music at the Morgan and extraordinary program beautifully performed Marazzoli Garden of Earthly Delighrs. He went to Venice to present his opera Gli Amore do Giasone e d’Isifile in Teatro SS Giovanni e Paolo. So thinking of you, the music and how lovely that you arrive safe and sound to do your art.
