We were excited to learn about water etch lithography plates and couldn’t wait to order them. Got started with some students last week and this is what we discovered.
1. Don’t use litho crayons or tusche–permanent markers and cheap ball point pens work just great and produce the best results!
2. Get the plates really wet with water–sopping.
3. Use very stiff ink to roll up the plates and make sure that they don’t dry out as you ink them.
4. As spoiled as we are with the new easy cleanup inks, they just don’t work. Too oily.
